Ø   Glory & Significance of Lord Venkateswara..... Lord Venkateswara is not an incarnation. It is a direct descent of Lord Vishnu Himself - Saakshaatt (per-se) Maha Vishnu; the primordial supreme God - Hari Sarvottama. In the very first sloka Sri Venkatesha Stothra (Brahmaanda Purana), Lord Venkateswara who is none other than Lord Sri ManNaaraayana is eulogized as... "Venkatesho Vaasudevah Pradhyumno~mithavikaramah Sankarshano~anniruddhascha Seshaadhripathireva Cha" These four forms are considered as Vishnu tattva or plenary expansions of the Moola roopa of Lord Sri ManNaaraayana. Put together it is called Panchaniyaamaka Bhagawadruupa, five strategic forms of Lord Vishnu.  Ø   Narayana-Vaasudeva-Sankarshana-Pradyumna-Aniruddha ; These transcendental expansions together form the complete worship of the Primordial Supreme God Vishnu who is Venkateswara who is Srinivasa. Venkateswara is the Panchaniyaamaka Bhagawadruupa of Lord Vishnu; "Bhoothaa...

PITHRU PAKSHA - Why only during Bhadrapada Maasam?

Image
Actually oblation to Pithrus is prescribed to be performed on a daily basis through... > Brahma Yagna; > Shannavathi; > Parva kaala (Uttaraayana; Dakshinaayana; Eclipse etc.); > Pithru Paksha (Bhaadrapada maasam); > Annual ceremony; > Theertha/kshethra sraaddha etc., Out of which the one during Pithru Paksha is given greater prominence. As we approach towards middle of Bhaadrapada Masam as per Hindu Lunar Calendar, it is time to worship the departed souls (forefathers). This worship is held for a period of 15 days during the waning period (dark period) of Moon in the second fortnight called as Krishna (Bahula) Paksha of Bhaadrapada Masam that generally occurs during the months of September–October every year. The period of 15 days starting from Bhaadrapada Bahula Prathama to Bhaadrapada Bahula Amaavaasya is called, > Pithru Paksha or Apara Paksha or Paksha Maasa; around which time Sun would be transiting in Kanya (Virgo) Raasi. " Kanya...

MaAthru Vandanam - Why MaAthru SraAddha?

Image
Certain positions in Nature have surfaced a point of level that can never be encroached upon and have to be recognized/accepted with respect and without any compromise. One such position is that of a Mother (Maathru). Hindu Puranas and sacred Scripts unequivocally emphasize on the importance of worshiping parents (Maatha-Pitha); Famous sloka “Mathru Devo Bhava-Pithru Devo Bhava-Aaachaarya Devo Bhava-Athithi Devo Bhava”  is just an example of how much significance is given to these four elements of human life whose worship is considered as equivalent to the worship of God. We have examples where several sages, devotees, great personalities and even the incarnations of Lord Vishnu have exemplified and glorified the significance of this dictum of Sanatana Dharma which has not changed over ages.  In this order Mother is given the first and the foremost prominence, a unique and sacred place that can never be filled by any other element. Merits that comes from.... ...
