Rare Temples of Lord Hanuman # 11(Pavagada & Penukonda)
(Kote Aanjaneya Swamy at Pavagada) Pavagada is located on the Andhra – Karnataka border about 160 km from Bangalore in the Tumkur district of Karnataka state. The temple of Kote Aanjaneya Swamy located at the foot of the Pavagada fort known as Raaja Mangaraaya is in existence since the days of Vijayanagara Empire and said to have been installed in the year 1406 AD. The gigantic 13 ft height idol of Lord Hanuman is believed to have been consecrated by Sri Vyaasa Raajaru the great Madhva Saint/Philosopher and Raja Guru of Sri Krishna Devaraaya.
