Jeevana Krama (way of life...)
Jeevana-krama: The Way of Life In this depiction of human existence: The Elephant represents Past Karma (or the inevitability of death) relentlessly pursuing us. The Man clinging to the branch represents our Present Life, suspended in a fragile state. The Snakes in the abyss below represent Death (or the four base passions) waiting to consume us. The White and Black Rats gnawing at the branch represent Day and Night, the passage of time that slowly eats away at our lifespan. The Honeycomb represents the fleeting Material Pleasures of the world. The Supreme Lord Vishnu extends His hand, offering a way out of the miserable cycle of birth and death. The Irony: Though surrounded by peril, the man is so engrossed in craving a few drops of honey—the temporary sensory pleasures—that he fails to notice the extended hand of the Divine. This is the tragic paradox of the human condition. naham karta harih karta
