Mantralaya Mutt's gesture for Uttarakhnad Flood Victims

Mantralaya Sri Raaghavendra Swamy Mutt is known for its philanthropic activities and contribution for a social cause true to the spirit and ideologies of its icon Guru Saarvabhouma Sri Raaghavendra Swamy. Some of its social activities include free daily feeding (Anna Daana) to the devotees, free medical facilities; free education, Go-Samrakshana; protected drinking water supply; support during natural calamities etc. apart from contribution to the religious and spiritual growth of the individual as well as community, well within the frame work of the Mutt. 

 

Responding to the recent Himalayan Sunami and the havoc it caused in Uttarakhand region due to the unprecedented rain and floods and resultant hardship caused to the humanity in general and to the pilgrims of Badrinath; Kedarnath etc. in particular, the revered Mutt has come forward to help in this hour of need by organizing support programs. One such program called Samraksha has been launched by the Mutt to extend all possible support in a phased manner to the victims under various natural calamities.

A committee of intellectuals and philanthropists has been formed to oversee the relief work under the auspices of Pontiffs of the Mutt H.H. Sri Suyatheendra Theertha Swamiji and Sri Subudhendra Theertha Swamiji to work out modalities and implementation of the rehabilitation programs. Committee is headed by Justice M.N. Venkatachalaiah, former Chief Justice Supreme Court of India. The agenda for rehabilitation include; providing food, shelter and transportation to the victims; establishing rescue and post rescue camps; adopting severely damaged villages in Uttarakhand and providing all possible help for its restoration with patronage from philanthropists.
