    Varna: Kshatriya
Dynasty: Chandra Vamsam – Yadu Dynasty (Yadavas)
    ------------------------------------
Yadu & Puru was Yayathi's Two Sons.
Since Yadu refused to give his youth to his father, he was exiled from the denasty. From king Yadu (degraded) the generation known as 'Yadav'.
In Mahabharatha,Krishna was not considered as Kshathriya.
(hope, you can understand my doubt.)

    1. Confusion arises because of the association, Lord Sri Krushna had during his childhood with the tribe whose occupation was cattle rearing, who were also called as Yadavas. They were traditionally cow herders and farmers and Sri Krushna was brought up among them.

When Yadu was not considered for succession to the throne by his father, he went on to establish his own dynasty called Yadu dynasty (Yadu Vamsa) whose descendants were known as Yadavas. Due to the curse of Yayati, descendants of Yadu had no right to occupy the throne but were very much administering their kingdom. Respecting this, Lord Sri Krushna did not occupy the throne at Mathura; instead, made his maternal grand father Ugrasena as the King; but was very much administering the kingdom.

Ninth chapter (Navama Skandha) of Maha Bhagavatham clearly mentions about the descendants of Chandra Vamsam and Yadu Dynasty in whose lineage Lord Sri Krishna took birth. Ancestors of Sri Krushna on both sides (paternal and maternal) were very much Kshatriyas. In Mahabharata Sri Krishna’s enemies did not consider him as Kshatriya out of their ignorance.

Above all Lord Sri Krishna is the Paramatma, the Supreme Being (Krishnasthu Swayam Bhagavan) and this Varna classification is only for academic interest.
