Hanuman Garhi
(Naimisharanya)
(Naimisharanya)
Hanuman Garhi also known as Hanuman Gaddhi is a temple of Lord Hanuman located in Naimisharanya where we find 18 feet self manifested Lord Hanuman in a gigantic form. Here Lord Hanuman is depicted as carrying Lord Sri Rama and his brother Lakshmana on his shoulders. It is believed and said that during the epic Ramayana Lord Hanuman after rescuing Lord Sri Rama and Lakshmana from the clutches of Mahiravana in Pathala loka, bought them on his shoulders and arrived on the earth at this place in Naimisharanya.
Hanuman Garhi is one of the sacred places to be visited in Naimisharanya, where Lord Hanuman is facing south and hence, is also known as Dakshineshwar Hanuman. Naimisharanya is located in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh about 90 km from Lucknow.
